Internship Reflection 3

This is my third time at internship and I have learned alot the past two internship days. I dedicated my time to do plenty of research on what I am basing my project on which is event planning. The senior internship exhibitions are in the middle of may and it is time to begin to start contacting people to become panelist to judge the presentations. These exhibitions determine whether or not we, the students, meet the graduation requirements. Dr. DeSalvatore told me last week that he wanted to meet with me today. We met this morning and he explained to me that looking for panelist for exhibition is a long process. He wanted me to make a design a Save the Date Invitation so it can be sent out to past panelist and new people like our new site supervisors. The Senior Internship Exhibitions are going to take place Thursday, May 21st and Friday May 22nd. I made sure to have that in the Save the Dates. Also I made sure that I made a reference that they were panelist last year and that we'd love to have them as panelist again, a commitment of about 1 hour and 40 minutes of their time of longer if they'd like for one day of both, and that we'll be back in touch but if they're interested please reserve the date. I quickly got onto a computer and went on Microsoft Publisher and opened up a flyer template. I made sure to make this the schools colors (burgendy and white) and have it catch the audiences attention. Since I was going to be in charge of getting the RSVP's back I put my contact information as the event coordinator. I ran my rough draft through to Mrs. Burke and Dr. DeSalvatore and she edited the way it was written. Dr. D liked it and told me it was missing the schools logo, he emailed it to me and I added it on. This took me the whole entire day to work on but the final product was great. Dr. D was in charge of sending them out and I just had to wait on getting calls and e-mails.

Internship Reflection 2

Today is my second day doing my internship. I've been working really hard on my projects. Little did I know, being an event planner was going to be so much work. I continued doing my research on how to plan an event and reflected on this research. It is important for me to analyze this because it is going to teach me everything I am going to know in the future. I started to look up how to get a sponsor for an event and also how to plan an event on alow budget since our school had a small budget to focus on. I started researching event planning on a low budget and found many articles. Alot of the research I did helped me with the internship class because I used it for an assignment where I needed to work cite all the articles I found on event planning and my project. I also worked on a brochure on a career on Public Relations where I explained what it is and the benefits of becoming one. After doing this it opened up my interest on Public Relations which makes my internship very interesting and very fun. It is also a career that will benefit people fincancially because it's not a low paying job. The schools fashion show is right around the corner and I thought that it will be a perfect event for me to work on. It is great PR for the school and also other companys. It is also perfect for a fundraiser. My job will be to bring this up to Mrs. Burke to see if this is a great idea for my project.

Internship Reflection 1

Today was my first day going to my internship. I had to miss about two or more weeks for my internship because of my knee surgery. I didnt have the advantage of everyone else to actually go to a site and get hands on experience with a mentor and everything. Before beginning at met with Mrs.Burke because i focused on different topics in Mass Communications, my Internship topic. The main part i focused on was media, broadcasting, advertising, marketing and public relations. I had enough experience to go anywhere in this field. Mrs. Burke told me the best thing to do was public relations. I asked myself where can I go with this? The best idea was event planning. Mrs. Burke told me to do event planning for the school since she wanted to plan a luncheon for the seniors and their site supervisors. I knew that was the job for me. Today I focused on getting alot of background information on event planning and everything that is surrounded by. I never thought this was something that I was going to enjoy and i havnt even begun my project yet.
